Allergy considerations

Manufactured medications generally contain preservatives and other additives because they are mass produced and may sit on shelves for a while. These additives can cause problems for patients with allergies. Since we make each medication specially for an individual patient, we are able to use fewer ingredients and take your specific allergies into consideration.

Unavailable dosage forms and strengths

While some medications come in many strengths and forms, others do not. This can result in inconvenient situations such as cutting tablets, taking multiple pills at a time, or giving pills to young children or animals. Compounding can solve these problems. For example, we can make your child’s medication into a flavored liquid—then you won’t need a spoonful of sugar to make the medicine go down.

Improved convenience

Many patients (or their pets) are on numerous medications and it can be frustrating keeping track of them all. We have a few tricks up our sleeve to keep things simple. Some examples include combining multiple drugs into one product or making capsules of different colors. We also have more control over things such as container type. So if you find yourself frustrated dealing with your medications, let us know and we can come up with a plan to make life easier.

Everyone has different needs, so we like to be prepared for everything. While we typically use gelatin capsules, we also carry plant-based capsules for our vegan and kosher patients—all you have to do is ask.
